What should I look for when buying baby food?
Purchase organic products.
I suggest purchasing organic baby food. Why? Because your baby will be less likely to be exposed to pesticides.
Examine the Label
Keep an eye out for preservatives like MSG and nitrates. When purchasing organic baby food without preservatives, make careful to check the label. After opening, you usually have 24 hours to use the product before discarding it; without preservatives, they don't last very long.
Begin small.
Foods should be introduced one at a time. Several infant food jars and pouches combine a variety of fruits and veggies. Choose single items to introduce at first so it's easier to see whether your baby has an allergic reaction.
Salt and sugar
Make sure the sugar and salt levels are minimal; neither of these substances is appropriate for newborns in high amounts.
Using a Food Processor to Make Baby Food
Why am I not going to spend a lot of time talking in front of a food processor? We bought a food processor to create baby food for our daughter, and it was more of a nuisance than anything else. To begin with, the vast majority of individuals do not own a food processor. If you go out and buy one for baby food, you're essentially purchasing a baby food factory. If you already have a food processor, I'm sure you'll find yourself using a blender or an immersion blender before long.
Expensive
With a food processor, you get what you pay for. You'll need to spend at least $50.00 on a quality food processor, and the costs go much higher than that! My question is, when you're not cooking baby food, how often will you use the food processor? Will it collect dust if it's not used? When I could just use the blender I already have, I don't think it's worth the money.
Preparation, Liquid Addition, Blending, Dividing, and Storage
All of these processes are the same as when using a blender or immersion blender.
